Summer is finally in full swing, with the beaches packed and the tan lines blinding through D & G shades. Nothing makes me happier then laying in the sunshine with a cold beer and a good book (which by the way I am reading Karen Abbott’s “sin in the second city”) letting the lazy breeze lull my worries away and watching my sense of self elope into the sand. But to re-remind everyone that I also love music, that it steals my heart and fucks it until I remain in a constant orgasm. So…when I was called on Saturday by a guy that I had just recently met, and told that he could get me into Lolla for free I had to jump for it. Reaffirming that this isn’t a date to both David, myself, and the guy in question I wait in eager anticipation for the rest of the day. Come five pm I race downtown to grant park and wait at the allotted time beneath the bubble letters for like 45 minutes in the hot sun listening to the local DJs exude the warnings and rules of the festival, very important regulations like not to bring alcohol or bombs into the park…. I chewed gum, chain-smoked and checked my phone repeatedly until finally I was given the magic wristband and led inside. In fear of my bag being searched I put one of my Swiss army knives in my bra and the other in my crotch…of course I didn’t get searched but it made a great conversation starter. After wandering the grounds, finding friends, and finding beer we finally found a rear end spot at the Rage Against the Machine stage…. When I learned Saturday was the Rage night I almost shit my pants, so this was so fucking exhilarating for me. It was amazing, I mean really fucking amazing. There were thousands of people, all in unison all taking in all of de la Rocha’s brilliance, and letting Morello’s guitar playing make us wet with desire. It was a phenomenal night, and I want to thank all parties involved- you know who you are.
